About the LPSD

The Lake Poinsett Sanitary District (LPSD) is a political subdivision of the State of South Dakota that includes all land within 1,000 feet of the ordinary high water mark of Lake Poinsett, which is 1,651.5 feet. The LPSD is governed by SD Codified Law Chapter 34A-5 and was incorporated December 9, 1975 and operates and maintains five stabilization ponds and twenty lift stations. The infrastructure of the LPSD is complete on North Lake Drive, Northeast Lake Drive, East Lake Drive, portions of Sunset Park Drive, Southeast Lake Drive, South Lake Drive, Southwest Lake Drive and a portion of West Lake Drive. The hope is to complete the sanitary sewer around Lake Poinsett as soon as possible. Additionally, the LPSD is contracted with Brookings Dumpster Service for trash and recycling services for all residential properties.
